Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist I is a key member of the healthcare team at Alberta Health Services, responsible for providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational respiratory health services to patients in various hospital settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' respiratory health needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Implement respiratory therapy interventions, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes
  • Provide training and education to healthcare providers on respiratory equipment and techniques
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery

Requirements:

  • Active registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) and NRP certification
  • Minimum one year of acute care experience in ICU, ED, NICU, or wards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of laboratory specimen ordering procedures
