Your Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the PennyLane Compilation team, your primary focus will be on the development and upkeep of Just-In-Time (JIT) and Ahead-Of-Time (AOT) hybrid compilation pipelines for PennyLane, an open-source framework designed for quantum machine learning, quantum computing, and quantum chemistry.
You will be tasked with:
- Translating abstract algorithmic descriptions into efficient and comprehensible software implementations.
- Conducting research and development to support new hardware platforms, programming paradigms, and software tools to optimize performance for quantum computing tasks.
- Interpreting and conveying complex concepts to the broader team.
- Engaging in software system specification, design, and quality assurance activities, including requirements gathering, defining software architecture, and documentation.
- Leading initiatives in software best practices, such as continuous integration pipelines, unit testing, documentation, and code reviews.
Basic Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of development experience with modern optimizing compilers across various architectures.
- Proficient in Python and C++ programming languages.
- Experience with benchmarking and performance-oriented optimizations.
- A strong emphasis on testing and ensuring software quality.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in developing projects utilizing MLIR and/or LLVM.
- Knowledge of advanced compiler optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with automatic differentiation methods and frameworks such as Autograd, Torch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Education or training in quantum computing, including relevant work experience, coursework, or publications.
- Experience in developing toolkits, compilers, or runtime environments for heterogeneous architectures.
