About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Design Professional to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Buildings practice, you will play a crucial role in shaping the built environment and creating innovative, sustainable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of integrated design proposals, utilizing BIM technologies to create three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent, while implementing sustainable design principles into the design and environment.
  • Conceptualize building designs from both a functional and aesthetic perspective, in concert with clients' requirements, budget, and program.
  • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups, interpreting and applying building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
  • Evaluate and select building systems and materials, assisting in the preparation of project specifications and coordination of specs with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability review, bidding and negotiation phase, and prepare addenda, reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
  • Lead project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, and sub-contractors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating, conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Inspires creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought, with a detailed understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity, with knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry-associated standards.
  • Produce at a level that would be perceived externally as excellent, hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively, participate in project team settings, check work of others for accuracy and completeness, and manage team to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program, and other similar material, communicate abstract ideas in writing and verbally, and require understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and recent modeling software.

Education and Experience

  • Professional degree in Architecture or related field & Registered Architect.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Working Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
