Community Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and community-focused Community Engagement Specialist to join our team at EfficiencyOne. As a key member of our African Nova Scotian Communities Retrofit Pilot Project, you will play a vital role in building relationships with African Nova Scotian communities and organizations across Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development and implementation of the African Nova Scotian Community Retrofits Pilot, including outreach, planning, and delivery.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the communities of Preston Township and Guysborough, providing support and assistance to community members with the pilot program.
- Gather feedback from the Preston Township and Guysborough communities to inform ongoing improvements to the pilot program.
- Provide guidance on addressing customer complaints and inquiries, and assist with site visits and documentation as needed.
- Work with community leaders, organizers, and members to develop educational/training materials, schedule engagement events, and distribute marketing materials.
- Regularly communicate with community leaders and members to ensure they are well-informed on all Efficiency Nova Scotia programs.
- Support the pilot's development and provide feedback on all aspects of the initiative, including eligibility criteria, participant processes, and marketing materials.
- A community college or university degree or diploma in a business-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Existing relationships and demonstrated ability to work in and with African Nova Scotian communities.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with a clear driver's abstract.
- Project management skills, including planning, designing, and execution, would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
In the first week, you can expect to undergo orientation to EfficiencyOne and Efficiency Nova Scotia, as well as introductions to the African Nova Scotian Communities Retrofit Pilot Project team and tools.
In the first month, you can expect to participate in orientation and overview sessions with HR, Efficiency NS programs, and community leaders and organizations in the ANSC Pilot areas.
In the first three months, you can expect to perform core duties independently, execute organization of community engagement or outreach sessions, and support the development of marketing materials and information-sharing campaigns with the Preston Township and Guysborough communities.
