Role Overview:The HR Generalist will facilitate the complete lifecycle of hourly employees within designated departments, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization. In this capacity, the HR Generalist will cultivate and maintain robust relationships with cross-functional teams, assisting Management/Supervisors in areas such as: employee relations, HR policies and procedures, performance management, recruitment and selection, and training and development. This role will also lead and support team initiatives across the organization and will be accountable for various assigned HR functions.
Key Responsibilities:Employee Relations
• Offer guidance and interpretation of policies and legislation to employees and supervisors.
• Conduct workplace investigations, including those related to harassment and health and safety violations.
• Manage performance-related issues (conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and counseling of employees/supervisors).
• Maintain accurate documentation and records for sensitive matters.
• Oversee leave management and employee return-to-work planning.
Employee Tracking and Reporting
• Maintain employee databases for new hires, employment changes, terminations, etc.
• Manage electronic employee files and upload relevant documents.
• Prepare SAP and other reports as necessary.
Recruitment and Selection
• Oversee the full recruitment process for hourly and salaried candidates, including phone screenings, conducting interviews, reference checks, and offer preparation.
• Post job openings on ATS and maintain the database.
• Attend job fairs as needed and establish partnerships with educational institutions.
• Create job postings for new roles, both internal and external.
• Facilitate preboarding for new employees joining the organization.
Employee Development and Training
• Conduct orientation sessions for new hires, coordinating with other departments.
• Assist in the development of the HR Annual Training program.
• Provide feedback and coaching sessions to support employee development and future success.
• Engage in succession planning and forecasting for departmental growth.
• Support the Talent Team in organizing and deploying training initiatives.
Additional Projects
• Assist in the implementation of new HR programs and initiatives.
• Support the administration and deployment of employee programs such as service awards, recognition, retirements, and other initiatives as required.
• Participate in audits as necessary.
• Plan, participate in, or lead company events.
Employee Communication
• Facilitate internal communication for company-driven programs, events, giveaways, etc.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of digital boards/signage.
• Bachelor's degree with a preferred focus in Human Resources/Labour Relations.
• CHRP/CHRL designation preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of Employee Relations experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of employment laws and practices.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and critical thinking skills essential for effective decision-making, along with sound judgment to align with policies and procedures.
• Proven leadership and collaboration experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation abilities.
• Capacity to manage tasks and priorities, multitasking effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience handling sensitive matters with discretion and tact.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Office programs.
• Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems and database management (SAP, ADP, PeopleDoc preferred).
Monday – Friday Office Hours
Flexibility required to support plant operations outside of standard working hours, including during night shifts when necessary.
