We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our Internal Controls team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance and effectiveness of our financial policy.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Executing and monitoring our Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) plan
- Identifying and assessing financial risks, and implementing mitigation strategies
- Communicating and coordinating with internal and external auditors
- Completing ongoing monitoring of existing internal controls over financial reporting
- Processing documentation of internal controls and business processes, and implementing effectiveness testing
- Executing process and control testing plans, including sample testing and root cause analysis of deficiencies and gaps
- Monitoring legislative compliance activities, including Executive Travel and Hospitality reporting, certificate compliance reporting, and other compliance activities
You will work closely with our Team Lead, Internal Controls, to ensure the successful implementation of our financial policy and internal controls.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce
- A minimum of three to five years' experience in financial administration
- Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting is considered an asset
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) is considered an asset
- An equivalent combination of education, certification, and related experience may be considered
- Experience in internal controls is considered an asset
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications, including Excel
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
- Knowledge of financial accounting and computing (such as SAP) system required
- A commitment to focusing on a culture that provides customer service above and beyond what is expected
- Knowledge of financial accounting, SAP ERP experience considered an asset
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Competencies in other languages are an asset
