We are seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a strong background in communications, event planning, and public relations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, creating engaging events, and building relationships with the media and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the centre's programs and services
  • Plan and execute events, including fundraising campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with the media, community stakeholders, and other external partners
  • Oversee the preparation of public written materials, including press releases and newsletters
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in communications, event planning, or a related field
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
