Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for performing pulmonary function and cardiopulmonary stress procedures, as well as assisting with the maintenance and quality control of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pulmonary function procedures, including spirometry, lung volume determination, diffusion capacity, inhalation challenges, and arterial blood gas punctures.
  • Conduct cardiopulmonary exercise studies and complete and file testing documents and records.
  • Assist in the monitoring of pulmonary function and stress testing equipment, conduct calibration and quality control checks, and arrange maintenance and repair as required.
  • Provide clinical instruction to respiratory therapy students during pulmonary function lab rotations, as required.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of department quality assurance programs and assist in the evaluation and selection of new equipment.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C.
  • One year's recent related experience in an accredited level three pulmonary function lab.

  • Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
