About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Respiratory Therapy Services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Initiate and educate patients on prescribed inhaled medications and breathing monitoring tools.
  • Perform mechanical ventilation on adult, pediatric, and infant patients as prescribed by physician.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, initiate oxygen therapy, and assist with home oxygen therapy.
  • Provide artificial airway care, perform non-invasive physiological monitoring, and obtain invasive arterial blood gases.
  • Insert radial arterial lines and perform invasive endotracheal intubation.
  • Attend cardio-respiratory arrests and maintain documentation on treatments given to patients.
  • Perform cardio-respiratory physiological measurements and calculations.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports according to established departmental standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Current CPR Certificate, Professional Level C.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation program certification.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others and prioritize work.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current developments in respiratory therapy.
