Job Summary
The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Part Time Program Leader, Drop-In/General Programs. This position is responsible for planning and implementing safe, enjoyable, and diverse drop-in programs and events, as well as assisting program instructors in assigned classes for children, youth, and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of a safe and enjoyable sports program under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator, working in accordance with the Program Instructor.
- Actively involved in leading/assisting all activities during program operation.
- Provide leadership, support, and resource knowledge to volunteers.
- Maintain program schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
- Monitor the arrival and departure of participants from programs.
- Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants, and the Community Recreation Coordinator.
- Abide by the Town of Ajax Policies and act in a professional manner at all times.
- Ensure that the necessary equipment and supplies are available, set up, and that such equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition.
- Assist with general maintenance of program space (sweeping, litter control, etc.).
- Promote an environment of safety and respect among participants in the program.
- Create an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience.
- Perform administrative tasks necessary to support the program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Community Recreation Coordinator or Program Instructor.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be a minimum 16 years of age or older.
- Previous experience working with a variety of ages in a recreational setting.
- Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills.
- Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C certification.
- HIGH FIVE - Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
- Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town (dated within last 6 months).
What We Offer
- Rate of Pay: $17.99 - $19.56 per hour.
- Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week. The hours of work are Sunday to Saturday, various shifts between 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
