Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Supervisor to join our team at Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team that delivers culturally intelligent and wholistic services to children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Delivery:
    • Assess and assign referrals in accordance with the needs of children, youth, and families.
    • Advise staff on casework planning, provision of supports and resources, clinical assessments, and individualized service plans.
    • Review and critically assess information to make decisions regarding court recommendations, admission/discharge of children from care, and other critical service decisions.
    • Review progress and outcomes, consult with staff to ensure service users are supported, and assess the effectiveness of services provided.
  • Management:
    • Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of services provided, identify gaps in service, and participate in the development of the Agency's service plans, budget submissions, goals, and objectives.
    • Facilitate a positive onboarding experience for new staff through orientation, mentorship, regular support, development, and feedback.
    • Evaluate staff performance on a quarterly basis in relation to their job description, demonstration of our values, delivery of our service model, and mutually agreed-upon goals.
  • Administration:
    • Ensure that case plans, recordings, and documentation are accurate and complete, and in accordance with legislative requirements, Ministry standards, and the Agency's directives, policies, and procedures.
    • Review, sign, and approve requests for financial expenditures within established Agency limits and clear all other major expenditures with the Senior Manager as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience:
    • Master's Degree in Social Work from a University of recognized standing combined with a minimum of three years' experience in social work within the field of child welfare; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from a University of recognized standing combined with a minimum of five years' experience in social work within the field of child welfare; or
    • BSW equivalency; or
    • An equivalent combination of formal education, experience, and training.
  • Availability:
    • Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. While the Agency actively encourages a healthy work-life balance, it's essential to recognize that our children, youth, and families regularly require services outside of the Agency's operating hours.
    • Must have flexibility in your work schedule to accommodate evening, weekend, and holiday work as required.
  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Provide an acceptable Canadian Police Information Centre Check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
    • Able to provide a safe vehicle for use on the job, an acceptable Driver's Abstract, evidence of a valid Ontario Driver's License, and of Personal Liability & Property Damage insurance coverage for at least $2,000.
    • Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
