About the Role

Aecon Concessions is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in analyzing documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums to prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret construction drawings, contract documents, and other relevant information to prepare detailed estimates.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
  • Collaborate with Operations staff to drive project success and learning, and to ensure compliance with Aecon's risk management policies and procedures.
  • Formulate all costs for tender submissions, including labor, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracts.
  • Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions, and ensure that all necessary documentation is distributed appropriately upon award of project.
  • Manage Scope Changes as required, and coordinate invoicing and progress payment activities when requested.
  • Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects, and provide technical support to field staff as needed.
  • Assist with RFPs and General Contract tender submissions, and assist with Prequalification submissions, RFQs, and RFI's as required.
  • Drive positive relationships with clients, consultants, and key subcontractors, and protect all forms of proprietary information.
  • Maintain Estimating data systems to ensure they are up to date, and assist in the training of new Estimating staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 2-3 years' experience in Estimating, including experience in subsurface Utility engineering (SUE), district energy systems, sanitary/storm/watermain installations, and utility locating pricing.
  • 2-3 years' experience reading and understanding construction drawings and contract documents.
  • 2-3 years' experience using MS Excel, Word, Project, P6, and estimating software.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract language, Terms and Conditions, Bonding, and job cost fundamentals.
  • Good knowledge of basic accounting and reporting principles.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills, and strong communication skills - oral and written.
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure, and adapt to flexible work schedules as required.
  • Ability to be stationed on major remote projects during construction, and work with others as a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
