Position Overview
Our Engineering Design Organization (EDO) is in search of a proactive and skilled individual who is passionate about continuous enhancement to fill the role of Intermediate Controls and Instrumentation Engineer. This position is based in one of our offices in Western Canada.
Role Responsibilities
As a key player in our problem-solving initiatives, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems designs within a multidisciplinary framework.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and bids, ensuring the technical scope is accurately developed and design and construction fees are established.
- Provide innovative engineering solutions tailored to meet the needs of our clients and communities, adhering to client specifications and industry standards.
- Address the I&C systems engineering requirements for a diverse range of industrial and municipal clients.
- Engage in a collaborative environment to identify instrumentation, controls, and process automation needs.
- Create comprehensive engineering packages that detail installation requirements for process control systems and instrumentation.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality control of design documents and drawings, including professional sealing of technical documentation.
- Offer commissioning and start-up support during the construction phase, representing the firm and overseeing systems integration activities.
- Travel to various sites as necessary for fabrication, installation, and client engagement.
- Coordinate control system designs with other engineering disciplines, including process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and external design teams.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering design.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A strong understanding of P&IDs, instrumentation and control systems design (PLC/PAC/RTU/DCS/HMI/SCADA), networking, and process automation.
- Familiarity with instrumentation for measuring and controlling flow, temperature, pressure, level, and analytical properties, along with relevant codes and standards.
- Proven experience in proposal development, budget management, performance analysis, and contract oversight.
