Job Description

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Anaerobic Digester facility at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate various instruments and controls within the facility, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and permitting requirements.
  • Perform regular Preventive Maintenance (PM) on plant instruments and sensors, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning within set parameters.
  • Troubleshoot plant instrumentation and repair as necessary, utilizing technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure efficient and safe work practices, and provide technical guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement process improvements, utilizing data analysis and technical expertise to optimize facility operations.
  • Participate in on-call duties and respond to emergency situations, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to regulatory requirements and Veolia's health and safety policies.
Requirements:
  • Apprenticeship certification and/or an inter-provincial Journeyman Instrumentation and Controls Technician trade certificate.
  • Minimum of two years' related-industry experience and completion of apprenticeship certification.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and industrial process plant environments is an asset.
  • Strong customer service attitude, attention to detail, and ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate-level computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Work Environment:

This position operates within a COR-certified plant environment, requiring adherence to regulatory requirements and Veolia's health and safety policies. The facility operates on a 24/7 basis, and the incumbent will be required to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and technical skills, able to work collaboratively with maintenance teams and provide technical guidance and support as needed.
