We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Department to join our team at Océan. As a key member of our Regulatory Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards specific to the maritime industry.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor new regulations and assess their impact on our operations.
  • Supervise and ensure harmonization of minimum personnel requirements for ongoing operations and special projects.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training and evaluation following ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, Classification Society, OCIMF, and other company-established procedures.
  • Establish and participate in working committees related to regulatory compliance and other relevant projects for the division.
  • Oversee files submitted to Transport Canada regarding office decisions and exemptions.
  • Prepare investigation reports on maritime incidents or accidents and submit them to the appropriate authorities.
  • Plan internal and external safety management system audits for the company's fleet of vessels.
  • Manage personnel under your supervision and participate in the activities of the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.

Requirements:

  • Marine certification relevant to the position.
  • Major in marine transportation and/or advanced certificate (an asset).
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience in the maritime field.
  • Good knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of CSA 2001, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS, OCIMF, Classification Societies, and other relevant regulations.
  • Sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
