Be a Key Player in Maritime Compliance

Océan is seeking a highly skilled Head of Department to lead our Regulatory Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, implementing, and following up on specific projects related to regulatory and maritime issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor new regulations and determine their impact on our operations.
  • Supervise and ensure harmonization of minimum personnel requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training and evaluation following ISM standards.
  • Establish and participate in working committees related to regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee files submitted to Transport Canada regarding office decisions and exemptions.
  • Prepare investigation reports on maritime incidents or accidents.
  • Plan internal and external safety management system audits.
  • Manage personnel under your supervision and support the activities of the Health, Safety, and Environment Management System.

Requirements:

  • Marine certification relevant to the position.
  • Major in marine transportation and/or advanced certificate.
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience in the maritime field.
  • Good knowledge of Office Suite software.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA 2001, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, OCIMF, and Classification Societies.
  • Sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
