Job Overview
Under the guidance of senior management, the Personal Lines Underwriter II is tasked with evaluating the acceptability of moderately complex insurance applications with a moderate premium volume, adhering to the established company standards. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional expertise and service to both prospective and current policyholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough risk assessments utilizing technology and external data sources to facilitate quoting, negotiating, and approving risk acceptance.
- Assess eligibility for policy renewals in alignment with company guidelines and retention objectives.
- Ensure meticulous documentation of decisions and maintain the integrity of policy data.
- Communicate decisions effectively and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Aid in the interpretation of rating methodologies, policy wordings, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage work assignments, including phone inquiries, with efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively to achieve team objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including networking at industry functions.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance sector.
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent business experience.
- Commitment to pursuing or currently enrolled in a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Proven decision-making skills with the capacity to provide sound justification.
- Excellent customer service capabilities.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
