Commodity Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commodity Procurement Specialist to join our Global Purchasing Organization at Magna International Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with our company's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that meet business objectives and commodity roadmaps.
- Manage the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers, ensuring compliance with purchasing policy, internal code of ethics, and safety and environmental regulations.
- Support the Purchasing organization in the development and implementation of global commodity strategies.
- Collaborate with Regional Purchasing Operations Directors to ensure local purchasing teams comply with commodity roadmaps and strategies.
- Participate in global commodity director meetings to discuss global strategy and provide input on purchasing decisions.
- Perform strategic sourcing analyses to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a stable and reliable supply base.
- Manage commercial negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and conditions.
- Report key metrics to the Global Commodity Director and provide regular updates on purchasing activities.
- Support Engineering Change activities and ensure continuity of supply for regional facilities.
- Manage supplier files, component files, RFQs, and contract reviews.
- Support supplier improvement initiatives and escalate supplier issues as needed.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Sales, Engineering, and Project teams to ensure a seamless supply chain.
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Previous commodity experience in areas such as aluminum, die casting, fasteners, forgings, cables, sleeves, and springs.
- Knowledge of IATF16949 policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Compliance with ISO/14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management.
- Demonstrated success in satisfying OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in a complex, competitive automotive market.
- Experience with manufacturing best practices, continuous improvement, logistics, business quoting, and launch processes.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and performance metrics.
- Up to 25% travel required.
