About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at A.S.A Meat & West Indian Grocery Inc. as a key member of our retail team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and Prepare Meats: Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting, ensuring high-quality products for our customers.
  • Customer Service: Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers, providing excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Meat Processing: Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat, adhering to company standards and quality control measures.
  • Meat Packaging: Wrap and package prepared meats, ensuring efficient and safe handling practices.
  • Meat Handling: Remove bones from meat, weigh meats for sale, and cut poultry into parts, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Meat Pricing: Price meat products accurately and efficiently, ensuring transparency and fairness in pricing.
  • Sales and Customer Interaction: Sell meats to customers, providing product knowledge and recommendations to enhance customer experience.
  • Meat Cutting and Preparation: Cut fish into steaks and fillets, grind meats, and train meat cutters, ensuring a high level of skill and expertise.
  • Display and Presentation: Prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products, maintaining a visually appealing and attractive store environment.
  • Meat Shaping and Trimming: Shape, lace, and tie roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood, adhering to company standards and quality control measures.
  • Work Environment: Work in a fast-paced retail environment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a retail or meat processing environment.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a cold/refrigerated environment, exposed to odors, and standing for long periods.
  • Work Setting: Ability to work in a supermarket/grocery store environment, interacting with customers and colleagues.
