Climate Strategy Manager

Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust is on the lookout for a committed professional to join our Sustainability Team as a Climate Strategy Manager. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead efforts aimed at minimizing energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout our extensive real estate portfolio. Your work will significantly contribute to our environmental objectives and assist in reaching our ambitious net-zero goals by 2050.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a thorough strategy to decrease energy usage and emissions in both existing properties and new developments.
  • Evaluate and prioritize initiatives that target energy and emissions reduction, including suggested upgrades and operational modifications.
  • Compile comprehensive reports and present findings to senior leadership to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Deliver training and educational sessions to team members across various departments to support the rollout of decarbonization initiatives.
  • Oversee external consultants for continuous performance assessment and reporting on forthcoming projects.
  • Coordinate sanctioned energy and emissions reduction initiatives and manage incentive applications.
  • Provide expert advice on the implementation of energy and carbon reduction strategies, including retrofitting, metering, data collection, and solar energy projects.
  • Refine methodologies for measuring and verifying reductions and collaborate with the development team on design strategies that align with decarbonization objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in energy management across various real estate sectors, demonstrating a successful history of reducing energy consumption and emissions.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, or similar credentials are advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of building energy and carbon reduction strategies, data analytics, and sustainability practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with a capacity to lead projects involving internal stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively across different functions within the organization.
