Job Summary:
The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Secondary School Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure the success of our students, staff, and school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional leadership and support to teachers and staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning practices.
- Develop and implement school improvement plans to enhance student achievement and well-being.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and the community to promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Manage and allocate resources to support the school's programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with other school administrators and district staff to achieve board goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- Seven (7) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience.
- Teaching experience in two divisions and/or specialized areas within the school system.
- Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).
- Master of Education (preferred).
- Special Education, Part 1 (preferred).
- Addressing Anti-Black Racism to Change Pedagogy and Practice, Part 1 or equivalent (preferred).
- Completed Principals qualifications according to Regulation 298: Section 9 (Principals Certificate Part I and Part II or equivalent).
- Completed Religious Education Specialist or equivalency.
- Completed Modules I & II of the Boards current Catholic Leadership Program or equivalent.
- Committed to, or completion of, Equity and Inclusion Training Part I, with a commitment to complete Part II within the first year of appointment.
- Pastoral Reference for a Leadership Position in Catholic Education (dated within the last twelve months).
- Recommendation from your current supervising Superintendent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Acting Principal, Vice-Principal, Consultant experience.
- Strong commitment to the concept of Catholic School Community.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to equitable educational outcomes for all students.
- Demonstrated experience in creating safe, inclusive, equitable, learning environments that are free from discrimination.
- Academic and professional qualifications beyond the basic requirements.
- Demonstrated servant leadership management style.
- Involvement in Special Education programs and curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation.
- On-going participation in their own professional learning program.
- Positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, parents, and other members of the school community.
Documentation Required:
- An updated résumé and cover letter.
- A copy of the OCT Certificate of Qualification.
- Proof of completion of Catholic Leadership Program (i.e., Program Certificate or equivalent).
- Proof of completion of Equity and Inclusion Training (i.e., Program Certificate or equivalent).
- Completed Leadership Candidate Profile for Principals and Vice-Principals including signatures from the current Supervisor and current supervising Superintendent.
- Pastoral Reference for a Leadership Position in Catholic Education (dated within the last twelve months).
- Two letters of professional reference.
