Job Title: Construction Project Superintendent

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Project Superintendent to join our team at Whelan Construction.

Job Summary:

The Construction Project Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Plan and organize daily operations to maximize efficiency and productivity
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates and manage project finances
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers to support project operations
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress to ensure projects stay on track
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for quality control to ensure high-quality work
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schemas, and drawings to inform project decisions
  • Plan and manage project budgets to ensure financial stability
  • Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions to support project needs
  • Oversee the analysis of data and information to inform project decisions
  • Prepare reports to stakeholders on project progress and performance
  • Resolve conflict situations and negotiate with stakeholders to find mutually beneficial solutions
  • Train staff and workers in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies to ensure a safe and productive work environment
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as construction management or engineering
  • 5 years or more of experience in construction project management or a related field
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and project team members
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing project requirements and stakeholder needs
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a combination of sitting, standing, and walking environments
  • Large caseload and overtime required as needed
