About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As a key member of our transportation group, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating transportation projects, including preliminary and detailed design, engineering studies, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and studies to support the development of transportation engineering designs, including EA documentation.
  • Design transportation projects, including preliminary and detailed design, engineering studies, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct site investigations and condition assessments.
  • Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments.
  • Prepare contract documentation, including contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantity and cost estimates, and working day estimates.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists, and administrative support staff.

Business Development

  • Contribute to the preparation of estimates and project proposals.
  • Contribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation group.
  • Contribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunities.
  • Travel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices for the purposes of executing your responsibilities, internal client relationship development, project research, and project delivery.

  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology.
  • Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months, or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be registered within six months.
  • 3-8 years of experience with exposure to consulting.

Experience

  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
  • Understand project design and implementation activities, including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads software will be considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
