Aircraft Engine Manager

Cargojet Inc is seeking a highly skilled Director, Powerplant to oversee all aspects of the company's aircraft engines and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) programs to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with aviation regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to optimize engine lifecycle management and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive initiatives related to fleet expansion, engine procurement, and long-term fleet planning.
- Manage engine MRO costs, ensuring budgetary control while driving cost-saving opportunities through effective vendor management.
- Ensure accurate tracking of engine usage, spare engine allocation, and inventory management to avoid operational disruptions.
- Oversee engine maintenance programs, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, to ensure compliance with company manuals, regulatory requirements, and OEM standards.
- Monitor engine reliability trends and direct initiatives to enhance engine and APU performance, minimize downtime, and optimize on-wing time.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of engine-related issues, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Ensure all power plant operations comply with aviation regulations, including Transport Canada (CARS) standards, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft engine or power plant management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of aircraft engine systems, OEM guidelines, MRO processes, and regulatory compliance (CARS / FAA).
- Proven experience managing engine reliability programs, budgeting, and vendor negotiations.
- Experience in project management and strategic planning within an aviation technical operations environment.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and performance tracking tools.
- Hold a valid AME license and obtain an Aircraft Certification Authority (ACA) holder pursuant to the Policy Manual.
