Job Title: Part-Time Academic (SUST 3951: Topics in ESS: Environment and Sustainability in Popular Culture)

Role Summary & Key DutiesThe sessional instructor will be responsible for delivering the course on Topics in ESS: Environment and Sustainability in Popular Culture during the upcoming academic term. This course is designed to engage students for 3 hours each week, focusing on critical discussions held on designated days. The curriculum will delve into various themes concerning 'the Environment,' Sustainability, and the Climate Crisis as depicted in popular culture. Utilizing diverse media such as film, literature, and art, the course will examine historical and contemporary narratives surrounding environmental governance and cultural expressions related to sustainability.
This course aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of how cultural discourse shapes our perceptions of environmental issues and inspires innovative solutions for sustainable futures. The instructor will guide students through an analysis of primary sources and popular media, encouraging critical thought on the implications of cultural narratives.
Qualifications & RequirementsThis course is open to students from various disciplines within the University who are interested in exploring the cultural dimensions of sustainability. The position requires a Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field, with professional experience being a valuable asset.
CompensationCompensation will be in accordance with the collective agreement.
