Estimator - Building Materials Specialist

About the Role:
The Federated Co-operatives Limited is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing expert advice and guidance to customers on building projects, ensuring that their construction needs are met with the right materials and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide detailed estimates and consultations to customers on building projects, taking into account client input, documentation, specifications, and design drawings.
- Lead and coordinate in-house project planning and development, including project scope, plans, material/component specifications, and supporting material/component estimates.
- Monitor and manage building material inventory levels, forecast future requirements, and order inventory accordingly.
- Maintain and develop relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, building inspectors, draftsperson/designers, material vendors, trades, and local Co-ops.
- Develop new contractor relationships and enhance the company's presence in the market.
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer-aided drawings, and provide customers with detailed estimates outlining the overall building material requirements.
- Support the tendering process, providing quantities, costing/pricing, and descriptive information associated with the overall building project.
- Develop and maintain a Vendor Reference Database to track and specify material-specific information, and research alternative vendors where specialty goods are needed.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- Certificate and/or Diploma in Building/Architectural Science or Construction Management.
- 3-6 years of relevant and related experience in the construction industry.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in developing spreadsheets, documents, and customer files.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Decision-making skills in a fast-paced and pressurized work environment.
- Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and business savvy skills.
- Valid Class 5 drivers' license for traveling across the company's trading areas.
