The University of British Columbia seeks a highly accomplished and experienced leader to guide our Clinical Genomic Research Group. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of genomic research in pediatric rare diseases within British Columbia.

As the Senior Manager - Clinical Genomics Research Group, you will spearhead a team dedicated to developing innovative genome-based diagnostics for children with developmental disabilities. Your expertise and vision will be instrumental in advancing our understanding of genetic disorders and improving patient care.

Job Summary
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Clinical Genomic Research Group, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement research strategies to advance the field of clinical genomics, focusing on pediatric rare diseases.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and scientific excellence among researchers, clinicians, and bioinformaticians.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of research activities, including project management, resource allocation, and data analysis.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with external partners, including laboratories, funding agencies, and clinical institutions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of knowledge-translation strategies to disseminate research findings and impact clinical practice.
  • Manage human resources effectively, fostering a positive and productive work environment for team members.
Qualifications
  • A postgraduate degree in genetics, genomics, or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical genomics, genetic diagnostics, and pediatric rare diseases.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing research teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
