WorkSafeNB is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team in the Fredericton region of New Brunswick. As a key member of our Compliance Services team, you will play a critical role in promoting safe and healthy work environments across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct workplace inspections and enforce the New Brunswick Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Act and its Regulations to ensure compliance and promote a safe working environment.
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and work refusals, providing expert advice and guidance to clients and stakeholders.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation to clients, internal teams, and external committees, ensuring that health and safety best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners to promote health and safety awareness and education.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, legislation, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform and improve health and safety initiatives.
- University degree or post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline, such as occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant work experience in a technical specialty, including experience with health and safety-related work.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety issues and principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or CHSC (Certified Health and Safety Consultant) certification is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Ability to travel to and work in required areas in New Brunswick.
