Job Title: Pharmacy Liaison Specialist

At Alberta Retired Teachers' Association (ARTA), we are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Liaison Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy services team, you will play a critical role in providing expert support to our members and the Member Services team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to ARTA members and the Member Services team by answering complex questions regarding the ARTA prescription plan pricing, policies, and programs.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff in the performance of day-to-day dispensary operations and the performance of strategic member health programs and services offered by the pharmacy.
  • Deliver the highest quality service to ARTA members by providing expert advice and guidance on managing pharmacy-related benefits.
  • Advise on maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) and Least Cost Alternatives (LCA) pricing policy.
  • Coordinate with claims adjudication group to follow up on special authorization and/or coverage issues.
  • Support the navigation of coordination of benefits with Government Seniors Benefit Plans on high-cost medications, diabetes supplies.
  • Support ARTA members with escalated prescription medication coverage issues, directly or indirectly through support of ARTA member services phone staff.
  • Conduct review and analysis of high-cost drugs for inclusion on ARTA Drug Benefit List.
  • Reporting and monitoring of ARTA prescription pricing policies to ARTA executive leadership group.
  • Provide meaningful engagement with pharmacy customers to improve Member health.
  • Provide support to the ARTA Director, Pharmacy Services.
Requirements:
  • Registered pharmacy technician certification in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • Previous pharmacy experience in community or hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience in a central fill, or mail-order pharmacy an asset.
  • Experience working with retired or senior population considered an asset.
  • Computer proficiency in KROLL Pharmacy Management Solution is essential.
  • Previous experience with vial and/or pouch filling pharmacy automation an asset.

All ARTA and ARTARx employees are required to be fully immunized against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
