Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
  • Current Registration: Must hold registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Specialized Training: For positions supporting NSWOC nurses, candidates should have graduated from an accredited nursing program and possess Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, or have completed the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Program or a Master's in Wound Healing.
  • Further Education: Completion of post-secondary courses in Adult Education, Process Improvement, and/or Change Management is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of direct experience in adult education, quality enhancement, and/or policy/procedural development is required.
  • Indigenous Relations: Experience in working with Indigenous communities and promoting Indigenous relations with a focus on Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action is essential.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and standards is necessary.
  • Gerontological Standards: Understanding of current, evidence-based issues and standards in gerontology is important.
  • Driver's License: A valid BC Driver's License is required.
  • Alternative Qualifications: An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and support to staff and colleagues.
  • Independence: Capacity to work autonomously.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong organizational, teaching, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, physicians, and colleagues from Island Health and external organizations.
  • Verbal and Written Skills: Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
  • Physical Capability: Must possess the physical ability to perform the duties associated with the position.
