The Saskatoon Community Clinic is in search of a dynamic and experienced Full-time Head of Counseling Services to oversee our Counseling team.
Key Responsibilities:- Accountable for the effective delivery of Mental Health services to clients and staff by strategically planning, organizing, directing, and managing the department's resources in alignment with the clinic's mission and policies.
- Uphold professional standards and adhere to Provincial Legislation and licensing requirements.
- Participate actively in management committees, contributing to organizational decision-making.
- Lead, manage, and supervise the counseling team to ensure the provision of high-quality mental health services.
- Develop and implement both short- and long-term objectives, policies, and procedures in collaboration with staff and management.
- Ensure appropriate staffing by developing job descriptions, overseeing recruitment, conducting interviews, and managing training and performance evaluations.
- Respond to urgent priorities and clinical initiatives through effective management of the Counseling department.
- Ensure staff compliance with licensing body requirements and maintain membership in professional associations.
- Advise the Executive Director on the ongoing and developmental needs of the Counseling Services Department.
- Oversee the financial management of the department, including budget development and expenditure monitoring.
- Coordinate educational initiatives for departmental and clinic staff related to their interaction with the Counseling department.
- Ensure efficient daily operations, including staff scheduling, payroll management, and resource acquisition.
- Facilitate continuous improvement in service delivery by providing leadership and guidance to staff.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain service excellence.
- Manage documentation effectively.
- Collaborate closely with clinic physicians and staff to address client needs and enhance care quality.
- Experience in an inpatient or community-based mental health or counseling environment.
- Registered and in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers or Saskatchewan College of Psychologists.
- Proficient in suicide risk assessment, individual and family counseling, and treatment of mental health issues.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge in financial and human resource management.
- Experience in community-based health or social service organizations.
- Demonstrated skills in team building, decision-making, and problem-solving.
