Position Summary:
The Weld Reliability Technician is tasked with conducting thorough inspections and tests on all welding activities to confirm compliance with established control plans. Utilizing specialized equipment and machinery, the technician ensures that all welding operations meet the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and generate reports from destructive testing equipment for push out, torque, and resistance welds.
- Perform MIG welding cuts and measure weld cross-sections, interpreting the results accurately.
- Promptly report any non-conforming parts identified during inspections.
- Complete detailed weld inspection reports and utilize the weld database to monitor compliance.
- Collaborate with Quality Auditors to initiate corrective actions for any identified non-compliance issues.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey findings.
- Conduct weld inspections for various studies and trials under the guidance of the welding engineer.
- Demonstrate understanding of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Perform correlation studies between destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
- Possess a solid technical understanding of weld quality standards, including appearance and location for various welding types such as MIG, projection, and spot welding.
- Utilize ultrasonic weld inspection equipment effectively.
- Conduct annual layout inspections and compile reports accordingly.
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Experience in inspecting and testing welding processes.
- Proficient in computer applications relevant to the role.
- Ability to follow directions and understand technical specifications.
- Skilled in plasma cutting, operating push-out machines, and performing microscope inspections.
- Familiarity with hydraulic tools, cut-off saws, grinders, and polishers, along with the ability to read and interpret weld drawings.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
