About the Role

The Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of all company tooling or production equipment and processes. This includes performing tasks such as PLC, robot, and HMI programming, implementation, and troubleshooting, as well as preventative maintenance of production and support equipment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and promote yourself in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations, Formet's Visions/Values through Magna's Employee Charter.
  • Implement and troubleshoot PLC, robot, and HMI programming.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production and support equipment.
  • Repair equipment as needed.
  • Design, verify, and maintain electrical schematics.
  • Assist in setting up, maintaining programming, electrical components, and schematic standards.
  • Assist in proper maintenance of all programming software and application files and programming hardware.
  • Complete all required work orders and associated paperwork.
  • Improve equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Implement Continuous Improvement Ideas.
  • Monitor quality of welds and perform touch-ups as required.
  • Recommend necessary adjustments to parts and machinery to ensure proper production run.
  • Troubleshoot robots and weld controls.
  • Operate lifting devices as required.
