About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at ABB Schweiz AG. As a key member of our Legal & Integrity team, you will play a critical role in providing end-to-end legal and contract management services to our North American operating unit, including Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on commercial law matters, including contract review and negotiation.
  • Develop and implement effective contract management strategies to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and L&I team members to draft commercial agreements and other contractual terms.
  • Monitor legal affairs, including litigations and reporting, and provide strategic advice on local business matters.
  • Ensure good corporate governance in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)/divestiture and investment transactions.
  • Counsel management and business teams on legal risks associated with their strategy, plans, or decisions.
  • Support the development of strategies to address future business and legal opportunities and challenges.
  • Identify risks, external threats, and opportunities to the company and propose appropriate strategies.
  • Monitor Intellectual Property (IP) and work with stakeholders from the IP function.
  • Contribute to the growth and management of the Annual Performance Plan (APP) and control outside counsel expenditures.
Requirements
  • Law degree LLB (Canada) with strong common law experience.
  • Member of Quebec Bar or member of another Canadian province Bar.
  • 5-7+ years post-qualification experience practicing commercial law, either as a private practice associate or as an in-house legal counsel.
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to communicate in Spanish an asset.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills and ability to work in a complex international environment.
  • A U.S. bar membership or cross-training and experience with US law would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple assignments simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Experience with projects related to contracts, intellectual property, digital environments, and data privacy is highly desired.
