About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team at Lumentum Canada in Ottawa. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and durability of our leading-edge optical and photonic telecommunication products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and market expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Qualification and Testing: Work with cross-functional teams to develop and execute qualification and reliability testing plans for raw materials, sub-components, and finished products.
  • Failure Rate and Availability Analysis: Predict failure rates and availability for new products, and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Reliability Risk Assessments: Conduct reliability risk assessments for quality excursions, applying physics of failure, acceleration modeling, and experimentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with external labs to coordinate third-party testing, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Graduation from a BSc. or MSc. program in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or related field, and relevant work experience in a reliability, product qualification, or quality assurance function.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of statistics, electronics, optics, and optical communication systems, as well as experience with optical and electrical measurement equipment.
  • Soft Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to operate effectively in a highly technical and multi-project environment, and comfort discussing issues with higher management and customers.
Advantageous Qualifications
  • Previous Experience: Previous work experience in a reliability, product qualification, failure analysis, design engineering, process engineering, or compliance function.
  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of IEC, JEDEC, and Telcordia Qualification Standards, as well as experience with Weibull++, BlockSim, and Jump.
