Reliability Engineer Opportunity

Lumentum Canada is seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer to join our team in Ottawa. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and durability of our leading edge optical and photonic telecommunication products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement product qualification and reliability testing strategies.
  • Define and oversee qualification and reliability testing on raw materials, sub-components, and finished products.
  • Work with test engineers and technicians to ensure timely completion of testing.
  • Analyze data and report on findings, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the field reliability of deployed products, comparing with predictions.
  • Perform reliability risk assessments and apply physics of failure, acceleration modeling, and experimentation.
  • Coordinate third-party testing with external labs, requiring limited travel.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in how things work and how they fail.
  • Ability to interpret literature, reports, and data to provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Knowledge of statistics and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to operate effectively in a highly technical and multi-project environment.
  • Comfortable discussing issues with higher management and customers.
  • Graduation from a BSc. or MSc. program in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or related field.
Advantageous for the position:
  • Previous work experience in reliability, product qualification, failure analysis, design engineering, process engineering, or compliance function.
  • Knowledge of electronics, optics, and optical communication systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic and optical manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical components.
  • Familiarity with optical and electrical measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge of IEC, JEDEC, and Telcordia Qualification Standards.
  • ASQ CRE, Six Sigma Knowledge of Weibull++, BlockSim, Jump.
