Compensation Details

Salary Range:

Recruitment Range: $65,860 - $72,607 (starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement).

Performance Range: Starting salary to a maximum of $85,633 is achievable through annual performance increments.

Role Summary

The Student Development Coordinator is tasked with the design, coordination, and execution of a variety of programs, projects, and activities aimed at fostering the academic, personal, and interpersonal growth of residents and student staff. Reporting to the Manager of Education and Training, this role involves developing co-curricular programming that aligns with the strategic objectives of the Residence Services unit within the Department of Student Services.

This position plays a crucial role in creating opportunities for student involvement, promoting academic success, and facilitating transformative experiences for those living and working in residence. Responsibilities include delivering large-scale programming and engagement initiatives, establishing a programming model based on relevant theories (such as student development and learning theories), and overseeing all operations of the Residence Resource HUB.

The Residence Resource HUB serves as a center for programming activities within residence, featuring adaptable co-curricular spaces and the Program Resource Centre (PRC). It is utilized by both professional and paraprofessional staff from Residence Life and Education, as well as campus and community partners.

The Coordinator is expected to cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with campus and community stakeholders, while also supporting programming efforts for professional and paraprofessional staff. Direct supervision will be provided to four to six Program Resource Centre Advisors (PRCAs), along with guidance and support to Senior Community Leaders (SCLs) and indirect oversight to Residence Education Community Leaders (RECLs), Community Leaders (CLs), Summer Community Assistants (SCAs), and volunteer Residence Orientation Leaders (ROLs). Supervision of co-op and work-study students may also be required.

Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for training and supporting para-professional staff in programming, collaborating with campus partners and stakeholders, and implementing effective evaluation tools. This role also includes coordinating residence-wide programs for Residence Life and organizing large-scale events for Residence Services, such as recognition activities and banquets.

Qualifications

This position necessitates a minimum of an undergraduate degree along with at least three years of experience in program development, implementation, and event planning within a higher education or similar context. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
