Job Title: Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team at Shkoday Abinojiiwak Obimiwedoon. As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of at-risk youth in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing life skills workshops, assessing client skill strengths and development needs, and providing suicide and crisis intervention. You will also be required to prepare reports and case histories, and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement life skills workshops to support the development of at-risk youth
  • Assess client skill strengths and development needs to inform program planning
  • Provide suicide and crisis intervention to support the well-being of clients
  • Prepare reports and case histories to document client progress
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Or equivalent experience
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • HIGH FIVE training (principles of healthy child development)
  • Mental health first aid Certificate
  • Cultural Awareness Training
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
Work Environment:

This is a temporary position working 35 hours per week in a fast-paced environment. You will be required to work with a team of 1-2 people and have the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work effectively with Aboriginal groups, adolescents, children, and families.
