Job Title: Lead Cinematic Animator

Electronic Arts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cinematic Animator to join our team. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of animators, providing mentorship, regular feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment to inspire high-quality cinematic animations.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of animators to create high-quality cinematic animations.
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive animation style across the project.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and other stakeholders to ensure animation content aligns with the project's artistic vision and narrative goals.
  • Oversee the creation of in-house and outsourcing cinematic content.
  • Task and scope animation work, ensuring effective resource allocation and timely completion of milestones.
  • Review animation work to ensure best practices and workflows are maintained.
  • Stay updated with the latest animation tools, technologies, and industry trends, providing technical solutions and support to the animation team as needed.
Expectations:
  • Advocate for production deadlines and manage efforts to achieve task completion.
  • Oversee the creation of cinematic animations, ensuring alignment with the project's artistic vision and narrative goals.
  • Work closely with directors, producers, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain a cohesive animation style.
  • Manage a team of animators with varying experience levels.
  • Oversee outsourcing content and deliverables.
  • Develop strong communication skills and mentor the team.
  • Solve technical and creative issues to maintain high-quality animations.
  • Collaborate with integrators to implement animation content and test results.
  • Discuss artistic and technical challenges with colleagues to ensure cross-discipline clarity and alignment.
  • Seek feedback and direction while providing feedback to others.
  • Contribute to a collaborative learning culture within the team.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and a creative mindset.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a cinematic animator for in-game content.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Animator or similar role in the gaming or entertainment industry.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience working on AAA games with narrative content such as cinematics or scripted events.
  • Expertise in animation software such as Maya, Motion Builder, or similar tools.
  • Expertise in performance capture polish and keyframe proficiency.
  • Excellent understanding of character animation, timing, and storytelling.
  • Good eye for camera language and framing.
  • Broad understanding of technical workflows.
  • Experience collaborating with the broader team for content alignment.
  • Passion for improving workflows and tools.
