Job Title: Lead Cinematic Animator

Electronic Arts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Cinematic Animator to join our team. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of animators, providing mentorship, regular feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment to inspire high-quality cinematic animations.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of animators to create high-quality cinematic animations.
  • Provide mentorship and regular feedback to team members to ensure they are meeting project goals and expectations.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Oversee the creation of in-house and outsourcing cinematic content to ensure it aligns with the project's artistic vision and narrative goals.
  • Work closely with directors, producers, and other stakeholders to maintain a cohesive animation style.
  • Task and scope animation work to ensure effective resource allocation and timely project completion.
  • Review animation work to ensure best practices and workflows are being followed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest animation tools, technologies, and industry trends to provide technical solutions and support to the animation team.
Expectations:
  • Advocate for production deadlines and manage your efforts and your team's efforts to achieve task completion.
  • Oversee the creation of cinematic animations to ensure they align with the project's artistic vision and narrative goals.
  • Work closely with directors, producers, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain a cohesive animation style.
  • Manage a team of animators with a variety of experience levels.
  • Oversee outsourcing content and deliverables.
  • Have strong communication skills and seek opportunities to mentor the team.
  • Have a problem-solving mind to identify and solve technical and creative issues to maintain the highest quality of animations.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction well.
  • Work closely with integrators to facilitate implementation of the animation content and test the result in the game.
  • Collaborate and discuss artistic and technical challenges with colleagues to achieve cross-discipline clarity and alignment.
  • Seek feedback and direction on your work while also providing feedback to others.
  • Be an active contributor to the craft, promoting a collaborative learning culture within the team.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and possess a creative mindset.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a cinematic animator for in-game content.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Animator or similar role in the gaming or entertainment industry.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience working on at least one AAA game where you were intimately involved in creating narrative content such as cinematics or scripted events.
  • Expert in animation software such as Maya, Motion Builder, or similar tools.
  • Expert at performance capture polish and keyframe proficiency.
  • Excellent understanding of character animation, timing, and storytelling.
  • Having a good eye for camera language and framing is appreciated.
  • Broad understanding of technical workflows.
  • Experience in reaching out to the broader team for content alignment.
  • Puts passion into everything they do and aims to improve workflows and tools.
