Lawyer (Casual Roster) - Government Legal Services

We are seeking a skilled and experienced lawyer to join our team in the Legal Services Division of the Department of Justice. As a casual lawyer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and cases, providing legal advice and representation to the government and its agencies.
Primary Accountabilities- Provide legal advice and representation to government departments, Crown corporations, and other public sector entities;
- Draft and interpret statutes, regulations, and contracts;
- Assist with submissions to Cabinet and present information to the public;
- Serve on project teams with senior and intermediate staff of client departments;
- Adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A practicing membership in the Nova Scotia Barristers Society, in good standing;
- Experience advising government departments, Crown corporations, and other public sector entities;
- Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a casual position, which means you will be working on a flexible schedule and may be required to work overtime on occasion. You will be expected to:
- Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders;
- Adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics.
