Key Responsibilities- Shipment Coordination: Ensure all customer and supplier shipments meet specified requirements, maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
- Team Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of Forklift Operators across three shifts, providing guidance, training, and input on hiring, compensation, discipline, and performance evaluations.
- Warehouse Space Management: Oversee both internal and external warehouse space management, optimizing storage and ensuring efficient material handling.
- Production Support: Ensure timely and accurate material movements to support production needs, meeting required quantities at the right time.
- Material Movement Coordination: Manage the coordination of inbound and outbound material movements to ensure a seamless supply chain process.
- SOP Development: Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for forklift operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Daily Operations Oversight: Monitor Forklift Operators to ensure continuous, accurate, and timely performance of daily tasks, maintaining a steady supply chain.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all forklifts are properly maintained, coordinating repairs and maintenance to minimize operational downtime.
- Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety among forklift operators, providing ongoing training and promoting adherence to health and safety standards.
- Safety Monitoring: Proactively monitor workplace safety, conduct effective observations, identify unsafe practices, and implement corrective measures.
- Facility Audits: Perform routine audits inside and outside the facility, including shipping dock audits, to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Inventory Control: Ensure accurate inventory counts by implementing and maintaining proper inventory control procedures.
- Cost Management: Manage departmental costs and expenses, implementing strategies to control and reduce costs where possible.
- Data Collection: Ensure proper use of electronic data collection equipment to maintain accurate records and data integrity.
- 5S Standards Compliance: Perform all duties in alignment with 5S standards, promoting a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Process Adherence: Follow instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual and Process House, ensuring compliance with all departmental procedures.
- HR Compliance: Adhere to all company HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance in all aspects of work.
- Safety Compliance: Work safely at all times, following company safety policies and procedures, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Workplace Safety: Maintain a safe work area for yourself and fellow employees, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions, practices, or work-related injuries to the Manager.
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering is preferred and considered an asset.
- Comprehensive understanding of production scheduling, shipping procedures, and materials management.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, as well as knowledge of tooling, production processes, and quality standards (IATF16949 and ISO Standards).
- Proficiency in MRP and SAP systems, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
- Proven leadership skills to effectively motivate, train, and supervise a team of forklift operators.
- In-depth knowledge of forklift operations, including the ability to train and develop operators in advanced forklift techniques.
- Excellent verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with production teams, forklift operators, suppliers, customers, and the Director of Logistics.
- Strong written communication skills are necessary for creating reports and handling technical and business correspondence.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience with both Propane and Electric (EV) Forklifts, as well as various types of forklifts, including rotators, articulators, and forklifts ranging from 10 to 15 tons.
