About the Role:
Ciena Canada, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director to lead our High-Speed Photonics Components team in Quebec City. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall operational and strategic management of the site, as well as the leadership of the Photonics team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with Ciena's business goals and objectives, including the development of photonic components roadmaps and the identification of key next-generation components to be developed by the team.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of engineers, scientists, and other professionals working on the design, development, and production of high-speed photonics components. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and mentoring team members, as well as fostering a productive, inclusive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations at the Quebec City site, including management of resources, budgeting, and planning to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Product Development: Provide direction to the Photonics team, championing the development, design, and implementation of innovative, high-speed photonics components, ensuring our products meet customer requirements and are competitive in the market.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulations, as well as industry standards. Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure our products meet the high standards that Ciena is known for.
- Internal Customer Relations: Establish and nurture trusted relationships with internal customers located around the globe, understanding their needs and ensuring products meet those needs. This involves regular communication and collaboration with customers, as well as handling any issues or concerns that arise.
- Partnership and Collaboration: Establish and maintain partnerships with other companies, research institutions, and government agencies to further our business objectives and contribute to the broader photonics industry in Quebec City.
- Stakeholder Management: Accountable for building and nurturing strong relationships with internal stakeholders around the world.
