Job Summary

The Senior Director of Planned Giving will play a key role in advancing the university's planned gifts program, working closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Planned Giving, and other development officers to achieve fundraising goals. This senior-level position requires a highly experienced professional with excellent interpersonal skills and gift planning expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 40 donors and prospects in an assigned geographic region.
  • Assist in major and principal gift solicitations as warranted, with specific gift production and donor contact goals established on an annual basis.
  • Develop and implement planned giving strategies for top-level prospects and donors, working closely with the Principal Gifts Team.
  • Provide development advice and counsel to related units within the organization, ensuring short and long-term fundraising success.
  • Coordinate with the territory Executive Director to reach planned giving totals for the territory, serving as a resource for all planned giving activities and presentations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Relevant experience (6 years) in planned giving, with significant personal involvement in planned gift solicitation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in personal solicitations and the capital gift process.
  • Familiarity with modern university capital gift techniques, including moves management, tracking systems, and gift tables.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents, including board members, chancellor, vice chancellors, deans, and school/unit directors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability and flexibility to work outside of normal workday/office hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience within a complex university or organization with sub-units and complex reporting relationships.
  • Planned giving specific experience, with a focus on personal solicitations and capital gift process.
