Lead Cloud Product Management at Scotiabank

As a seasoned professional, you will lead the Technical Product Management team to empower our developers and drive innovation in cloud and platform engineering. Your deep technical expertise and product management acumen will be instrumental in ensuring our technology solutions meet the evolving needs of our development community, while adhering to all regulatory and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive Customer-Centric Culture: Foster a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Establish Strategic Partnerships: Establish close relationships with supporting teams across Scotiabank, acting as a liaison for Technology Product Managers.
  3. Coordinate Product Development: Facilitate coordination between product design, engineering, and architecture teams.
  4. Lead Product Management: Lead Product Management for Cloud & Platform Engineering, overseeing a team of Senior Technology Product Managers.
  5. Implement Best Practices: Foster a disciplined approach to Technology Product Management, implementing and rolling out best practices.
  6. Ensure Consistency: Coordinate across technology product managers to ensure consistency and integration of Technology Products within the Cloud Platform.
  7. Define Cloud Vision: Lead the definition of a multi-year vision, strategy, and cross-platform roadmap for the Cloud Platform within Cloud and Platform Engineering.
  8. Own Cloud Roadmap: Own and maintain the overall vision and roadmap across cloud computing areas, including foundation, infrastructure as code, serverless computing, containers, virtual machines, databases, storage, development patterns, DevSecOps, API, and events.
  9. Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage a data-driven approach to prioritization and execution.
  10. Lead and Mentor: Manage and mentor Senior Technical Product Managers and Technical Product Managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  11. Coach and Develop: Coach team members to improve performance and assist them in their career paths.
  12. Liaison with Supporting Teams: Liaison with supporting teams across Scotiabank that Technology Product Managers work with frequently (e.g., Design, Finance, Programs).
  13. Understand Risk Appetite: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  14. Operational Excellence: Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  15. Build High-Performance Team: Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Requirements:
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years focusing on cloud technologies and platforms.
  3. Track Record: Proven track record of leading and delivering complex, enterprise-scale cloud and platform engineering initiatives.
  4. Cloud Expertise: Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and services (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  5. Software Development: Strong knowledge of modern software development methodologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code principles.
  6. Containerization: Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
  7. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor high-performing product management teams.
  8. Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  9. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  10. Certifications: Certifications in relevant cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
  11. Security: Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
