We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Support Specialist to join our team at the City of Vancouver. As a key member of our Engineering Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting the sewer and drainage monitoring program and integrated watershed management planning teams.
Key Responsibilities- Manage contractor budgets and invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Provide GIS and CAD support, including data analysis and mapping, to inform sewer and drainage planning projects.
- Track and report key metrics for the ISDP branch, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Research and analyze geospatial data and historic records to identify monitoring locations and support sewer and drainage planning projects.
- Develop and maintain geospatial data layers and mapping to communicate ISDP sewer and drainage projects, plans, and team structure.
- Assist in resolving issues related to GIS and CAD data used for monitoring programs and sewer and drainage planning.
- Manage data management and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, including account and password management.
- Perform routine QA/QC procedures on collected data, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Develop maps and graphic displays, as well as Excel graphs and tables, for reporting and presentation purposes.
- Utilize geoprocessing tools and scripts to perform statistical analysis and analyze sewer and drainage system simulation model results.
- Monitor emerging trends in GIS software and tools that support the Sewer and Drainage Utilities.
- Support and assist with technical GIS issues or questions.
- Perform other technical duties required to meet the operational needs of the branch.
- Organize and maintain files in Vandocs and other branch libraries and filing systems.
- Completion of grade twelve supplemented by Institute of Technology courses in Civil Engineering Technology, GIS Technology, data processing, or other relevant field.
- Some experience as an Engineering Assistant II.
- Experience with SAP and VanDocs is preferred.
This is a temporary full-time position, eligible for the City of Vancouver's Flexible Work Program. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with minimal supervision, requiring strong organizational and communication skills.
