About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Student Controls Systems Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team at General Motors Canada. As a Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, gain hands-on experience, and develop your skills in controls systems engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to production operations, focusing on personnel and equipment safety, process quality, and uptime.
  • Assist production and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment/process failures and identify effective countermeasures.
  • Manage controls systems to ensure compliance with GM Safety and Controls standards.
  • Develop and implement machinery/equipment modifications to support area Efficiency Improvement Processes.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure proper documentation and spare parts availability.
Requirements
  • In pursuit of a post-secondary education with a Co-op component (3rd or 4th year).
  • Eligible to work full-time in Canada for a 12-16 month term.
  • Strong controls systems technical aptitude and high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and communicate professionally.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and tooling processes, comfortable with technology tools, and flexible with work hours and shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of computer software as pertaining to CCR engineering activities.
  • GM standard controls certification training completion.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with GM Workplace Safety System (WSS) imperatives.
