Position Overview:

As a Bilingual Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for managing arrears effectively and in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate delinquent accounts within your assigned portfolio.
  • Oversee collection and administration of your portfolio.
  • Minimize financial losses and protect the corporate image.
  • Assist clients with budgeting and planning to rectify current delinquencies and prevent future occurrences.
  • Assess and collect applicable fees.
  • Review bankruptcy cases and consumer proposals, filing proof of claim as necessary.
  • Collect common expenses, strata liens, and tax and utility arrears.
  • Establish payment plans for arrears settlements.
  • Process new pre-authorized payment information.
  • Provide credit ratings and mortgage verifications.
  • Collect deficiency balances on discharged mortgages.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures to meet AML requirements when applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is essential for interactions with clients.

Work Environment:

  • High-volume periods with strict deadlines.
  • Extended periods of sitting or remaining stationary.
  • Repetitive movements such as typing and using a mouse.
  • Prolonged time spent viewing computer screens.
  • Multi-tasking may involve handling customer calls while accessing information on a computer.
  • Call center duties may require long durations on phone calls using a headset.
