Position Overview

The Project Engineer will report directly to the Planning & Engineering Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the execution of capital projects. This role requires a strategic mindset to ensure that all projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Infrastructure Management (25%)
    • Lead the planning and execution of infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
    • Conduct engineering assessments and collaborate with external consultants as necessary.
    • Utilize modeling software to support the planning of water distribution and sewer systems.
    • Facilitate community engagement initiatives to gather input and feedback.
  2. Project Coordination (50%)
    • Manage project timelines, allocate resources, and track progress to ensure successful completion.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports for leadership, detailing project status and deliverables.
    • Evaluate technological and resource requirements to assess project feasibility.
  3. Grant Management (15%)
    • Prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring adherence to funding guidelines.
    • Collaborate with various departments to clarify project objectives and resource needs.
    • Maintain communication with funding agencies throughout the approval process.
  4. Construction Oversight (10%)
    • Administer contracts and manage project workflows to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
    • Ensure compliance with permitting and licensing requirements.
  5. Documentation and Reporting (5%)
    • Maintain accurate project documentation and prepare detailed progress reports.
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential project challenges.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Eligibility for registration with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of municipal development processes and funding mechanisms.
