About the Role

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Waste Management Driver. As a key member of our Solid Waste Division, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective collection of recyclables, organics, and garbage in our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a fleet of recycling, organic, and garbage vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
  • Collect, load, and unload leaf, brush, garbage, organics, and recyclables
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions to the Supervisor
  • Work in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve our waste management goals

Requirements

  • High School (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience driving and operating commercial vehicles and performing labour-intensive duties
  • Valid DZ License with a satisfactory driver's abstract of no more than 3 demerit points
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a driver labourer in the waste collection industry
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to operate equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to interact with the public in a polite and professional manner
